The Spanish media have reported that Real Madrid have beaten Chelsea to the signing of AC Milan's Kaka for a world record fee of £56m.
Chelsea's new boss Carlo Ancelotti had made Kaka one of his top priorities, having managed the Brazilian superstar while in charge of the Rossoneri and there is reportedly a chance they could still scupper the deal.It is thought that Milan club president and Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi does not want the transfer announced until next week because of the European Elections this weekend, meaning the Blues could still sign Kaka if they can better Real Madrid's offer.
However, reports in the Spanish press say the £56million deal has already been completed and Kaka has signed a five-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu worth around £7.7million a season, with the club taking 50 per cent of his image rights.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has also hinted that Real had already secured the Brazilian's services.
He said: "We started working today and we will lay the foundations to create a magnificent team. Kaka could be one of our objectives but the prices the media are talking about are really out of the reality. Some things can last for days, others for months. We have until 31 August."
