Chelsea Captain Terry Wants New Deals For Drogba, Plus Ashley And Joe Cole

Now that Ancelotti has been announced as the new Chelsea boss, Terry thinks his first port of call should be contract renewals...

Chelsea captain John Terry has urged new manager Carlo Ancelotti to secure the long-term futures of a trio of stars, prior to beginning a summer of recruitment.

The England defender believes that powerful striker Didier Drogba, who only has one year left to run on his current contract and could return to Ligue 1 this summer, is deserving of a new deal.

So too, thinks Terry, should the club's Players' Player of the Year Ashley Cole, and injured flair midfielder Joe Cole be rewarded with extended contracts.

He is reported to have told the Telegraph, "At the same time, we need to keep hold of lads like Didier Drogba, Ashley and Joe Cole who are up for contract talks.

"They're great people. People like Ash, Didier and Lamps have been fantastic this year," he claimed.

"Roman still has big plans for the club, most definitely. I think we'll see Chelsea back and competing for the top players who are out there."
