John Terry: Third Place Is No Longer Good Enough For Chelsea

The Blues' skipper wants Carlo Ancelotti to propel the club forward to where he thinks it should be...

Chelsea captain John Terry has reportedly written an 'open letter' to the club's fans, speaking of how, with the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as manager at Stamford Bridge, he believes the Blues can now mount a real challenge to Manchester United's recent dominance of the Premier League title.

And while the England international acknowledges the superb job done by departing temporary boss Guus Hiddink, he is relishing the future glories that he clearly feels new manager Ancelotti can bring.

"[Hiddink] came at a difficult time, when it looked like things were slipping away from us," Sky Sports News reports the letter as reading.

"So to lead us to the FA Cup final and within a whisker of the Champions League final is a great achievement.

"That said, third place in the league isn't good enough for Chelsea anymore. It's our worst finish since Mr Abramovich bought the club and we all know we need to do better.

"It is fantastic to win the FA Cup, but we want more and that's the way it needs to be for us these days."

And Terry was keen to stress that the team would return from their summer break refreshed, and with renewed determination to bring more glory to Stamford Bridge.

"We will all enjoy the time off we have now and come back for pre-season as determined as ever, and of course looking forward to achieving great things with the new manager Carlo Ancelotti," he concluded.
