Chelsea to pounce for Pirlo

Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo could follow Carlo Ancelotti to Chelsea this summer.

Ancelotti has been widely tipped to leave San Siro for Stamford Bridge after a disappointing campaign.

And it is now being suggested that Azzurri ace Pirlo may also make the journey to England.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that the directors at Milan have been contacted by their Chelsea counterparts and have placed a £20m price tag on Pirlo.

The 30-year-old is under contract with the Diavolo until 2012 but he may see this as a good chance for a fresh start.

Pirlo was close to joining Real Madrid back in 2006, but President Silvio Berlusconi intervened to prevent the transfer.
